Top Drive

A Top Drive is basically a mechanical device that is suspended from the derrick on a drilling rig.

It is used to provide torque or drill the drill string down the borehole.

Risers

A drilling riser is a pipe that temporary connects the subsea oil well to a

surface drilling facility such as Drillships or Semisubmersible rigs.

Drill Pipes

A drill pipe is a hollow, thin-walled, seamless steel and/or aluminium alloy pipe that is used on drilling rigs.

As it is hollow, it allows drilling fluid to be pumped down the hole through the bit and back up via the annulus.

What is a Drill Ship

A drillship is a type of merchant vessel specifically designed for exploratory offshore drilling. These ships are used to drill new oil and gas wells or for scientific drilling purposes. In recent years, drillships have been increasingly utilized in deepwater and ultra-deepwater applications. They are equipped with the latest and most advanced dynamic positioning systems to maintain precise positioning during drilling operations.
